The Lansdowne golf course is seen as the "second" course for golfing in Blairgowrie, yet it now has the reputation of being the superior when it comes to competitions and for those seeking a demanding test of their golfing skills.
The Lansdowne course is long and tight. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th make for challenging golf early in the round, a string of long par fours where a driver is not the best choice. This leaves long second shots but it is the recommended practice. If you can come out of this stretch of the course with your score intact, you are doing well.
The back nine presents the 14th and 15th as its finest, the 14th, a par three of 211 yards. The 15th at 434 yards is probably the tightest hole on the course. It is dead straight but hemmed in with heather, scrub and tall pines. The 18th is yet another long par four, a great finishing hole with out of bounds on the right and a dip ahead of the green making it appear shorter.
Lansdowne is certainly the pinnacle of golfing in Blairgowrie, offering a real test to even the most seasoned golfer. If you're taking a golfing break in Carnoustie Country, be sure to experience the enjoyable challenge posed by Lansdowne golf course.

For both the Rosemount and Lansdowne golf courses the dangers are similar and positional play from the tee is vital. Choosing a three wood or driving iron and losing some distance should not compromise a good score. Accuracy is essential, as Lansdowne is one of the most unforgiving golf courses in Perthshire.
