Carnoustie Buddon links, established in 1981, is a scenic course, ideal for mid-to-high handicappers, although its greatly improved design and condition over recent years make it a fine and most enjoyable test for any player.
One or two unusual touches have been added to the Buddon golf course, such as the double green at the 10th and 13th, as well as two lakes that come into play on four holes.
Whilst there are links elements on the Buddon course, there are other features such as a heathland stretch at the 7th where heather and silver birch trees are more reminiscent of a Highland golf course. This is a tight, slight dogleg and a pleasure to play well. The homeward holes, more links-like in character, have been much improved of late with new fairway turf laid at the 16th.
The Buddon golf course used to be the poor relation of the Carnoustie trio but now, thanks to a progressive improvement programme, it is a worthy and worthwhile test of any player’s golf skills.
