Getting to Carnoustie Country
Carnoustie Country is located within easy reach of the airports and railway stations of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. The nearest airport, however, is found in Dundee – just 15 minutes from the first tee at Carnoustie. What’s more, it benefits from daily flights to and from London Stansted and warmly accepts private charters.
Excellent road networks mean Carnoustie Country is easily reachable along the A92 from both the north and the south of Scotland and beyond. If you would rather put your feet up, bus and rail links are ready to take the strain.
Carnoustie Country is the ideal base from which to explore Scotland’s stunning east coast and the bustling bars, prized restaurants and incredible beaches that can be found along this remarkable stretch.
It is anticipated that given the high number of spectators attending The 147th Open at Carnoustie, the surrounding road network will be busy. To ensure the best possible flow of traffic, the local roads authorities and police are urging all motorists to use the designated traffic routes, which will be clearly signed by The AA. Spectators are advised to turn off their satellite navigation systems and follow the appropriate signage. Please note that there is no parking available at the course. All public parking will be located at park and ride facilities. Please follow the signs for Public Parking.
From the North East : Follow the A92 from Aberdeen to Dundee Road. Continue south on the A92 from Arbroath and and on approaching the Carnoustie area follow the signs for Public Parking.
From the North: Follow the A9 to Perth. on approach to Perth follow the signs for M90 / A90 Dundee. Follow the A90 to Dundee. Continue on the A90 Kingsway, Dundee, onto the A972 Kingsway East, Dundee. Follow the signs for A92 Carnoustie / Arbroath. Continue east on the A92 Dundee to Arbroath Road and on approaching the Carnoustie area follow the signs for Public Parking.
From the South and West : From the M90 (Edinburgh) or A9 (Glasgow / Stirling) on approach to Perth follow the signs for M90 / A90 Dundee. Follow the A90 to Dundee. Continue on the A90 Kingsway, Dundee, onto the A972 Kingsway East, Dundee. Follow the signs for A92 Carnoustie / Arbroath. Continue east on the A92 Dundee to Arbroath Road and on approach to Carnoustie area follow the signs for Public Parking.
From the South (Fife) : Follow the signs for A92 Tay Road Bridge. On crossing the A92 Tay Road Bridge into Dundee follow the signs for A92 Aberdeen / Arbroath. Continue through Dundee on the A92 East Dock Street, Greendykes Road and Arbroath Road. Follow the signs for A92 Arbroath. Continue east on the A92 Dundee to Arbroath Road and on approach to Carnoustie area follow the signs for Public Parking.
Using the Park & Ride
All public parking will be located at Park & Ride facilities, which transport motorists to and from the course on dedicated buses. Spectators are urged to use these facilities to minimise disruption to local traffic and ensure the fastest possible transfer to and from The 147th Open.

Car and Motorbike Parking
Daily Public Car Parking, payable in advance or on arrival, will cost £10.00 from Sunday 15 to Tuesday 17 July and £15.00 from Wednesday 18 to Sunday 22 July. A limited number of Weekly Car Park passes are available at a cost of £60.00. Weekly passes are only available in advance from TheOpen.com or The Open Ticket Office (01334 460010). Motorbike parking is available at a cost of £5 per day. All public parking is located at Park and Ride facilities.
Stagecoach will be operating all local bus services to and from Carnoustie as normal during The Open, with additional buses available at peak times to increase capacity when high demand is expected. Further information is available at stagecoachbus.com.
Carnoustie station is just a short walk from The 147th Open venue. ScotRail are providing an enhanced service for The Open, further details available here.
Regular hourly rail services from Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street will stop at Carnoustie station. Trains will call at the station in both directions from around 07.00 on Thursday 19 July through to Saturday 21 July, and from around 08.00 on Sunday 22 July.

Airports and Private Flights
Dundee Airport is the closest airport to Carnoustie Golf Links and is located approximately 14 miles (23 km) from the course. It can accept the arrival and departure of private jets. Loganair, Scotland’s Airline, provides direct flights to Dundee Airport from London Stansted, including 20kg luggage allowance, no additional credit card fees and complimentary in-flight service. The airline also accommodates golf bags for £20 one-way. Bookings can be made at loganair.co.uk.

The official helicopter landing site is located to the north east of Carnoustie Golf Links, approximately 10-15 minutes drive from the The Open venue. A designated Bicycle Park will be located near to the course. Cyclists are encouraged to take National Cycle Route 1 towards Carnoustie (ignoring the diversion between East Haven and Monifieth) then follow directional signage to the Bicycle Park on approach to Carnoustie Golf Links. Bicycles are not allowed into The Open and are left in the Bicycle Park at owners’ risk.
Please note that National Cycle Route 1 will terminate at the Bicycle Parks at either side of Carnoustie Golf Links, therefore cyclists wishing to travel beyond Carnoustie should follow the diversion signs from East Haven and Monifieth.
Ferry services operate in and out of Newcastle (North Shields Terminal) and Hull. Carnoustie Golf Links can be reached by car in 3 hours from the ferry terminal in Newcastle and 6 hours from the ferry terminal in Hull. Alternatively, Dundee (port of Dundee) is also a popular destination for cruise ships and there are many harbours in Fife and Angus suitable for private yachts.
