The terrain at Ballumbie Castle sweeps and turns with no two holes the same. An enjoyable course, the most challenging stretch of the layout starts at the 10th which is a par four featuring a burn running next to the fairway, a sloping bank to the right and a pond to the left of the green.
This is followed by a 210-yard par three, and then by another par three at only 143 yards over water. This unique and challenging stretch can catch out unsuspecting golfers. As a result, it is advised that some time warming up on the excellent practice facilities would be worthwhile. Alternatively a refreshing beverage in the comfortable clubhouse may be in order.
Don't let the wide fairways of Ballumbie Castle fool you. Every hole is different and requires good skills and club selection. The real test comes with the approach shots to the greens. Ballumbie's greens are small with each approach requiring careful consideration. Once on the putting surface you’ll find the pace quick so again a good touch is required. Ballumbie is a rewarding course to play and definitely one to include during your golf break.
